Graham Norton Says Taylor Swift ‘Seems So Grounded’ Despite Being Able to ‘Change the Economy of Our Country Just by Showing Up’

Graham Norton proudly admits he’s a big fan of Taylor Swift!

During his appearance on the January 17 episode of Sherri, the 61-year-old British talk show host shared his admiration for Taylor Swift while reflecting on the many celebrity guests he’s welcomed on The Graham Norton Show over the past two decades.

Host Sherri Shepherd brought up Norton’s past comment about Swift, referencing his statement on the Kylie and Jackie O radio show, where he described the pop icon as “so close to normal” despite being powerful enough to “change a country’s economy just by appearing.”

“It was meant as a compliment,” Norton chimed in with a smile.

Shepherd teased, “Are you secretly a Swiftie?”

“Oh, I’m not hiding it at all. I’m a full-on Swiftie,” Norton confirmed. “Taylor is incredible. Here’s someone who can influence a nation’s economy by just showing up, yet she remains so grounded and relatable. It’s truly fascinating.”

Norton then asked Shepherd if she had attended Swift’s Eras Tour. When Shepherd said she hadn’t, Norton reacted in surprise and shared his own VIP experience in Dublin.

“I went to her Dublin show, and it was arranged through my show and Taylor’s team. I assumed the VIP tent would be full of famous faces—maybe Bono or even the Prime Minister,” Norton recalled. “But when I got there, it was just me.”

Laughing, Shepherd asked, “Just you in the big VIP tent?”

“Yes! Me and a fully stocked bar, thanks to Taylor,” Norton quipped. “Though, it wasn’t full when I left.”

Shepherd asked if Norton got to meet Swift during the show. He humorously replied, “No! I was alone in that tent for four hours. But I did enjoy the concert… and the drinks.”

Norton concluded, “It was a great night. No complaints here.”
