Bindi Irwin Celebrates Going on First ‘Big Hike in Years Since Endometriosis Took Away So Much’: ‘I Cried Happy Tears’

Bindi Irwin achieved a milestone in her recovery from endometriosis.

On Jan. 18, the wildlife conservationist, 26, shared on Instagram her excitement about completing her first “big hike” in years following treatment for the condition.

“A day spent hiking over 10 miles, across 3 mountains with my best friend. ❤️,” she wrote, referring to her husband Chandler Powell, who joined her on the trek.

“My first big hike in YEARS since endometriosis took away so much,” she continued. “I cried quite a few happy tears. Endless gratitude in my heart. @chandlerpowell – I’ll remember this day forever.”

Her post included several scenic photos of the couple hiking, with one image featuring Bindi standing solo in front of a picturesque mountain and lake vista, donning a T-shirt that reads “Happy Camper.”

Bindi — who shares daughter Grace with Powell — has openly shared her journey with endometriosis, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, is “a painful condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it.”

After years of pain and fatigue, Bindi shared in 2023 that she was diagnosed with endometriosis following a laparoscopy, where doctors discovered multiple lesions and a cyst, which she later had surgically removed.

Reflecting on her journey, Bindi expressed how much her life has improved post-surgery and how she feels like she has been given “a second chance at life.”

Now, she enjoys moments with her family and takes on new adventures, grateful for the support and awareness her story has brought to the condition.
