Joe Alwyn Reveals His 1 Trait That ‘Annoys’ Friends — but Drew Barrymore Reassures Him That It’s Actually ‘Wonderful’

Joe Alwyn revealed a quirky habit that tends to frustrate his friends—but earned praise from Drew Barrymore.

During his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on January 17, the 33-year-old actor admitted to loving something that others might find unusual.

“I will walk everywhere,” shared The Brutalist star. “It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, muddy, snowing—I’m walking.”

Alwyn added that his friends often get annoyed, saying, “‘Why are we walking? Let’s just take a cab or the tube!’” But that doesn’t stop him. “Whether it’s a 20-minute stroll or an hour-and-a-half hike, I’ll always choose to walk.”

Drew Barrymore, 49, reassured Alwyn, saying, “That’s wonderful. It’s a good quality.” Alwyn agreed, joking that at least it helps him hit his daily step goal.

Beyond his love for walking, Alwyn also shared a mischievous childhood story that involved a prank gone wrong.

“At about 8 years old, I thought it would be funny to prank my neighbors with letters dipped in fake blood from a toy store,” Alwyn recalled. However, the harmless joke took a turn when frightened neighbors involved the police.

“Police cars showed up, and three officers came to our house,” he said. “Because my brother was older, he took most of the blame, but I remember the policemen standing over us and yelling. I thought I was going to jail!”

Alwyn is currently starring in The Brutalist, which also features Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce. The film is now playing in select theaters, while The Drew Barrymore Show airs on CBS.
